TAKE CARE: Banda Aceh is NOT a Visa-on-Arrival point yet!

If you fly directly to Banda Aceh and you are not a citizen of a Visa Free country, you need to arrange an Indonesian tourist visa beforehand in your home country or for example Bangkok, Penang, Kuala Lumpur or Singapore.

VISA REQUIREMENTS FOR INDONESIA

You can apply for a 30 or 60-day visa at an Indonesian Embassy or Consulate before entering Indonesia. Prices and processing time differ quite a lot at the various embassies.

For example: the Indonesian Consulate in Penang and the Embassy in Kuala Lumpur charge 162 Malaysian Ringgit (35 €) for a 60-day visa and have it ready in the afternoon of the next (working) day. Bring 2 passport photo's, photo copies of return tickets to Indonesia and of financial credibility (like proof of 2000 US $ in traveler cheques or a copy of the two sides of your credit card, and if so, just black out your numbers to be on the safe side).

Embassies and consulates are open on working days from Monday to Friday.

30-day Visa Free Facility
The citizens of countries whose governments offer visa-free facility to Indonesians as well, will continue to enjoy visa-free stays. The 11 countries that are granted the 30-day visa-free facility are: Brunei Darussalam, Chile, Hongkong & Macao Special Administrative Regions, Malaysia, Morocco, Peru, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam.
